MACHUPICCHU
It is located 112 kilometers northwest of Cusco, and built atop a mountain spur that surges vertically 800 meters above the Urubamba River. This spur is composed of violently upthrust intrusive igneous rock known as batholith. The surrounding environment corresponds to what is known as highland jungle or, more characteristically as "Cloud Forest": densely vegetated, with deep gorges, canyons, torrential rivers, and humid tropical climate .
Geographically, it lies in the Cordillera and Region of VILCABAMBA
DESCRIPTION
The Tour comprises an entire day. And it begins early in the morning with transfer from the hotel to the san Pedro Station to board the train for the 4 hour journey. The terminal point is the picturesque town of Aguas Calientes, on the right bank of the Urubamba River. At the town we board a bus that drives us up to the ruins.
The tour is a guided by an experienced and knowledgeable Guide; Lunch is in a restaurant located next to the ruins. There are opportunities to do a bit of walking on our own as well. In the afternoon we board a bus back down to Aguas Calientes, then on to a train back to Cusco, arriving in the evening and transfer to Hotel
